ATOL is a financial protection scheme for holidaymakers travelling on an air inclusive holiday, which is managed by the Civil Aviation Authority. This protects you from losing your money or from being stranded overseas in the very unlikely event that DERTOUR should go out of business. Our Air Travel Organiser's Licence (ATOL) number is ATOL 1839.

When you buy an ATOL protected air inclusive holiday* from us, you will receive a confirmation invoice from us (or via our authorised agent through which you booked) confirming your arrangements and your protection under our ATOL.

* The air inclusive holidays we arrange are ATOL protected providing either the person who pays for the booking is present in the UK when the booking is made or the first leg of any flight or flights we arrange for you commences in the UK. Vienna Christmas Markets

Vienna's zest for life makes it the city of choice for bon viveurs, a place where tradition blends seamlessly with modern design and contemporary culture. The Vienna Christmas markets illuminate the Old Town adding to the romantic charm of Austria's beautiful capital. During Advent, around 25 markets tempt customers with their seasonal treats and gifts.

Vienna Christmas Market

One of the season's highlights is the 'Magic of Advent', at the traditional Vienna Christmas market in City Hall Square. Every day at dawn, the glittering market comes to life and transforms into a paradise for young and old. Up to 150 decorated stalls sell everything from Christmas decorations and traditional handicrafts to gingerbread hearts and aromatic berry punch. Vienna city breaks also prove to be popular with families. At the markets young children will be entertained by the Christmas Express and inside City Hall they can craft their own gifts, bake cookies and even meet Father Christmas.

A highlight throughout the year, but especially the during Advent season, is the stunning Schönbrunn Palace. The former summer residence of the Austrian Emperors, the palace provides another spectacular backdrop for an idyllic Christmas market. Here, you can look for traditional Austrian handicrafts while carol singers add to the cheerful atmosphere.

You will find the main shopping streets in the city centre: Kärntnerstrasse, Graben, Kohlmarkt and Rotenturmstrasse.

Austrian Delights: Exclusive Austrian foods and luxury goods.

Manner Shop: One of Vienna's favourite sweet shops.

Other shopping destinations are Mariahilferstrasse, one of the longest streets in Vienna, Favoritenstrasse and Landstrasser Hauptstrasse.

The Naschmarkt is a daily fruit and vegetable market south of the opera district. Vienna's largest and best known market offers a mixture of Viennese and international delicacies.

Right in the heart of the city is the supremely designed Haas House. The mirror image of St Stephen's Cathedral reflects in the building's semicircular glass facade. Here, you will find a number of exclusive shops and boutiques and a terrace restaurant which offers fantastic views over the historic city centre.

Sacher Hotel Restaurant

This is the best spot for a romantic dinner and a showcase for imperial Vienna. The restaurant serves various Viennese and international dishes and the famous Sachertorte was invented here.

Wiener Rathauskeller

There is no more traditional place to dine in all of Vienna than this cellar-level restaurant in Vienna's Town Hall. Live musicians entertain as you sample your Wiener schnitzel.

Kardos

If you can't visit neighboring Budapest, then here you can get a taste of traditional Hungarian cuisine.

St. Stephen's Cathedral

This cathedral is not only Vienna's major sight and symbol, it is also the city's most important Gothic construction and has been the church of the archbishopric since 1722. The cathedral represents eight centuries of architectural history.

Imperial Palace

Until 1918, the Imperial Palace (Hofburg) was the centre of the vast Habsburg empire. Today, the vast palace complex houses more than 20 top museums and exhibitions as well as several cafés, restaurants and gardens.

Belvedere Palace

A magnificent Baroque palace surrounded by beautiful gardens. Belevedere is also the location of the Austrian Gallery Museum which features Gustav Klimt's famous painting 'The Kiss'.

Schönbrunn Palace

The former summer residence of the imperial family is considered one of the most beautiful baroque palaces in Europe.

MuseumsQuartier

Close to the Imperial Palace you will find Vienna's exciting art complex with several renowned museums and a lively restaurant and bar scene.

Prater

Spend a fun-filled day in the Prater, Vienna's amusement park and location of the Giant Ferris Wheel, one of the city's famous landmarks.
