ATOL is a financial protection scheme for holidaymakers travelling on an air inclusive holiday, which is managed by the Civil Aviation Authority. This protects you from losing your money or from being stranded overseas in the very unlikely event that DERTOUR should go out of business. Our Air Travel Organiser's Licence (ATOL) number is ATOL 1839.

When you buy an ATOL protected air inclusive holiday* from us, you will receive a confirmation invoice from us (or via our authorised agent through which you booked) confirming your arrangements and your protection under our ATOL.

* The air inclusive holidays we arrange are ATOL protected providing either the person who pays for the booking is present in the UK when the booking is made or the first leg of any flight or flights we arrange for you commences in the UK. Frankfurt city breaks welcome you to one of the most multicultural cities in Germany. By day, Frankfurt's futuristic skyline, nicknamed 'Mainhattan', represents a bustling business centre at the hub of Europe's financial affairs, but by night, the towering cityscape sparkles romantically. Take a city tour on the 'Ebbelwei Express' tram and visit the internationally renowned museum exhibitions. Our Frankfurt and Wiesbaden City Breaks are idyllically situated between the Taunus Mountains and offer spectacular scenic views of the surrounding countryside. Home of apple wine, Frankfurter sausages and Europe's busiest airport, Frankfurt boasts cultural highlights at every turn.

Frankfurt harmoniously combines tradition and modernity, retaining much of its original charm in the Old Town which lies north of the river. Frankfurt is the home of a wide collection of various museums and exhibitions second only to Berlin. Frankfurt is popular with the dance crowd, especially dance music where trance can be heard from many street corners. If you feel like a trip to soak up some of the traditional German culture take a short trip over to Wiesbaden. Famous for its extravagant celebrations such as the Wiesbaden Christmas Market the city is only a short distance from Frankfurt.

Frankfurt City Break

As the business capital of Germany, Frankfurt attracts many foreign visitors and German nationals to enjoy a Frankfurt city break, who in turn create a cosmopolitan environment that is a match for any other European destination. The Frankfurt Am Main can be seen from miles around with its mass of skyscrapers and poignant steeples. This location is popular with the younger audiences looking to enjoy the bars and clubs on offer and is a change from the cafes and shops in the Old town.

The most popular shopping area is the Fussgängerzone (pedestrian street) of the Zeil. Besides department stores and a wide variety of retail chains, one can find Frankfurt's most modern and exclusive shopping centre here, MyZeil. On its western end, where Zeil leads into "Fressgass'", or Große Bockenheimer Straße, the street is filled with cafés, patisseries, ice cream parlours and delicatessens.

Running parallel to Freßgass' is Goethestraße, the home to shops of haute couture. It is here you will find designers such as Versace, Gucci, and Prada.

Schillerstrasse is perfect for quality clothing and gift shops. There is also a market every Friday.
Berger Straße in Bornheim and Schweizer Straße in Sachsenhausen are perfect for those looking for more alternative boutiques or second-hand shops.

Street markets in Frankfurt can be found anywhere and everywhere. They are mainly filled with fresh foods and flowers. Every second Saturday morning, the Mainufer turns into a large flea market with a huge selection of used items; clothes, books, bicycles, and various other items.

Main-Taunus Centrum, Nordwestzentrum, Hessencenter - all of these are shopping centres in or near Frankfurt.

Charlot

An Italian restaurant located just across the Alte Oper which boasts a wonderful ambience with world-class service. Signature dishes include the Tuna Carpaccio, White Truffle Fettuccine and Tuscan-inspired Quail.

Erno's Bistro

Erno's Bistro, offers French cuisine with a Mediterranean twist. The venison fillet and fresh seafood come highly recommended. The restaurant also offers 600 varieties of wine to choose from.

Bombay Palace

Bombay Palace is situated in the historic Alt-Sachsenhausen. This exotic Indian- and Pakistani-inspired restaurant serves vegetarian dishes, wide-ranging buffets, and several rice curries. Bombay Palace also has a wide selection of beers and an extensive menu of local and international wines. All of these are served at reasonable prices in a beautiful building.

Apfelwein Wagner

Apfelwein Wagner is one of the oldest and most famous restaurants in Frankfurt. This affordable German restaurant serves sumptuous food such as the German dishes wurst and schnitzel, slow-cooked steak with horseradish sauce, grilled schweinshaxe, Frankfurt Green Sauce and also offers endless serving of apple wines. The highlight of this restaurant is the undercover courtyard and garden area.

Frankfurt is renowned as being a city of business and finance; however there are numerous cultural attractions that the city can boast of.

The Imperial Cathedral, known as the Kaiserdom, is a very interesting historical attraction. Within the Cathedral is where the leaders of the Holy Roman Empire were chosen.

Thirteen museums can be found on the banks of the River Main, and another twenty more can be found throughout the city. One of which is the Goethe Haus which presents the life and work of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. It first opened in 1863 and this makes it one of the oldest established museums in Frankfurt. It contains an impressive collection of paintings, manuscripts and graphic drawings and the original furniture of Goethe's times.

The Palmengarten is possibly the most beautiful attraction in Frankfurt. It was established in 1868 by the citizens of Frankfurt. The fifty acres of gardens are filled with flowers and plants and during the summer concerts and festivals are held here.

The Frankfurt Opera is a leading opera company in Germany and is one of the most important opera houses in Europe. It was elected "Opera house of the year" by German magazine Opernwelt in 1995 and 2003, and 'Best Opera in Germany' in 2010.

Visit Museum Embankment on the banks of the River Main where there are a total of 26 museums of all different themes. Every year these exhibits are celebrated at the 'Museum Embankment Festival'.

View the city from the Main Tower - opened in 2000, it is the headquarters of the State Bank of Hesse and Thuringia. The public can enjoy the view from the observation platform 100 metres about the streets of Frankfurt.

The English Theatre is the largest English-language theatre in continental Europe.
