Press release: 14 March 2011
Specialist tour operator, DERTOUR, is predicting positive growth
plans and close working with UK travel agents on the back of recent
sales figures reported by parent company, REWE Touristik.
The REWE Group, which is the second largest tour operator in
Germany, reported that its overall sales for 2010 were up by 4.4%
to Euro 4.3 billion. This is in contrast to the company's
calculations regarding the overall market of German tour operators
which grew by 2.5%.
Tim Locke, Head of Marketing at DERTOUR, says, "We are buoyed
up by the sales figures of our parent company, and since we have
had a full technology upgrade allowing us access increased product
direct from their offices in Frankfurt, we are working more closely
with them to mirror their successful business model here in the
UK.
"We also want to reassure UK travel agents that we are still
committed to working with them and wish to underline our stability
thanks to the financial backing we have from the REWE Group and
also the fact that this year we will be celebrating our 50th
anniversary as a UK-based tour operator working closely with the
retail travel agents."
Mr Locke continues, "It is interesting to note that REWE has
said that their 2010 sales experienced 'substantial growth' through
travel agency sales. We concur that, in the UK as well as Germany,
these developments clearly show that expert face-to-face advice
based on thorough knowledge of travel destinations and various
possible holidays, paired with customer proximity are as
appreciated as ever in this age of the internet!"
