ATOL is a financial protection scheme for holidaymakers travelling on an air inclusive holiday, which is managed by the Civil Aviation Authority. This protects you from losing your money or from being stranded overseas in the very unlikely event that DERTOUR should go out of business. Our Air Travel Organiser's Licence (ATOL) number is ATOL 1839.

When you buy an ATOL protected air inclusive holiday* from us, you will receive a confirmation invoice from us (or via our authorised agent through which you booked) confirming your arrangements and your protection under our ATOL.

* The air inclusive holidays we arrange are ATOL protected providing either the person who pays for the booking is present in the UK when the booking is made or the first leg of any flight or flights we arrange for you commences in the UK. Cannstatter Wasen - Stuttgart Beer Festival

The Canstatter Wasen is the second largest beer festival in Germany after the Oktoberfest. Its popularity increases every year as more people from all over the world come to visit. The Stuttgart Beer Festival was formed around 1818 when King Wilhelm decided to celebrate the end to years of hunger. The festival is the second largest in Germany only being surpassed by the Oktoberfest in Munich.

The beer festivals large beer tents present an ebullient atmosphere and the introduction of some wild and fast new rides to the fairground keep visitors on their toes. Culinary delights like 'Käsespätzle' (Swabian noodles with cheese), potato noodles with sour kraut or crispy knuckles complete the whole festival experience.

Cannstatter Wasen

Czech beer brands such as Ferdinand, Platan and Kocour are amongst the 70 brands of beer on show at Cannstatter Wasen with an ample supply of each throughout the festival and will never find yourself short of your favourite beer. Away from the fairground rides and the beer tents there is an open air market where you can shop to your heart's content in a relaxed environment. The offer ranges from jewellery and trendy leather goods to fragrant herbs and spices.

The main shopping area, the Königsstrasse, presents a lot of designer stores like Valentino, Cartier and Boss. There are also several department stores, specialist outlets and cafes.

Hidden away in the old part of Stuttgart lies the Bohnenvirtel. This area has some of the most interesting shops. For example wine taverns, international restaurants and countless tiny shops, offering products from all over the world.

The Gaststätte zum Paulaner is a traditional German beer house and very popular for locals and visitors. Order a popular Paulaner beer and traditional food such as sauerkraut and various kinds of sausages. There is also a terrace that is used during summer evenings.

The Alte Post is one of the oldest restaurants in Stuttgart. The traditional atmosphere is accompanied by gourmet food and is directly located at the market square.

The Fernsehturm Restaurant is situated at the top of the Stuttgart television tower. The menu is a mix of German and Italian cuisine.

Stuttgart is a city full of castles and palaces. Enjoy a boat trip on the River Neckar and marvel at the beautiful old town.

Have a look to the Stuttgarter Staatsgalerie (State Gallery) which is located on Konrad Adenauer Strasse and mainly exhibits 20th century art.

Today, one of the most famous attractions for tourists are the Merced-Benz and Porsche Museum.

Also the 217 metre high television Tower is certainly worth a visit.It was built in 1954-1956 and offers the most spectacular views of the city.
